Web Design Tutorials
A
comparison of the positives and negatives
of Frames, Templates, Server Side Includes,
and CSS
Some
Basic 'Dos and Don'ts' of Web Design.
I have done a large amount
of reading and research over the last couple
of years into the principles of good web
design the elements of graphic design and
how they relate. I have also been actively
researching the art of self promotion,
marketing, and internet marketing.
I have decided to to create
a section of my web site on which to share
a summary of my findings. I have read countless
books and articles, taken classes, and
even teach the subject matter, and I am
fascinated by how much there is to learn.
I am still learning. I decided that there
are probable a lot of people like me that
wish they could get a quick and easy answer
to their questions. Perhaps in bulleted
form, so that they do not have to spend
allot of time reading paragraphs, and pages,
and chapters of information looking for
they answer to their question. I certainly
have found in my daily teaching that this
is what the students desire. A quick and
easy answer. Which way is right, which
way is wrong. Which technique or technology
should they use. There is no 'easy' answer
in this new art form we call web design.
You must balance the use of the latest
technology with the capabilities of your
audience. The conscious designer must design
for accessibility to all individuals including
the color blind and the handicap while
still creating visual interest for a high
speed television generation. You have to
balance creativity with marketing aspects
inherent in how will your user find you
in this mass of information glutting the
internet?
So in order to share and
organize a little of what I learned. And
perhaps make it easier for my students
and interested parties to find a 'quick'
answer, I have provided some brief tutorials
and comparison charts.
